Ivan Barrera, San Antonio Criminal Attorney

Ivan Barrera grew up in San Juan, Texas, located in the Rio Grande Valley, and now calls San Antonio his home. He is a son to migrant field workers, a first generation American, and the first in his family to attend college.

He received his B.A. from the University of Texas Pan American in Political Science and earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s School of Law. In law school he was part of the Criminal Law Clinic, which allowed him to gain firsthand criminal law experience. During clinic he handled a writ of habeas corpus involving a capital murder, represented a juvenile in a family violence case, and was appointed ad litem for a juvenile in Federal court who was on the verge of being charged with the possession of child pornography.

Prior to joining Dunham & Jones, Mr. Barrera clerked for a prominent criminal defense and personal injury firm. Now he solely seeks the pursuit of truth and justice for the accused.

Outside of work, Mr. Barrera enjoys weightlifting, woodworking, traveling, live music, and spending time with his wife and 4 dogs (Jackson, Miley, Sia, Zoey).
