Jonathan Churchill, Midland Criminal Attorney

Jon Churchill was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. He graduated with honors and received his bachelors degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University. During his undergraduate studies, he worked at an emergency youth shelter, and helped to take care of at-risk children and teens in Abilene. He went on to receive his law degree from the University of Arizona. During Law School, Jon took every opportunity he could to gain practical experience interacting with and advocating for clients. He represented children in dependency proceedings, both as an intern for the Office of Children’s Counsel and as part of the Child and Family Law Clinic, where he gained his first trial experiences. He also participated in a year-long clinic with the University of Arizona Innocence Project. He worked as a trial extern for the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office, where he helped with the representation of indigent individuals charged with felonies in Maricopa County. He also assisted with appellate criminal matters for a local Tucson attorney.

After graduating from Law School, Jon worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for a Pima County Superior Court Judge for a year. There, he gained valuable experience helping draft judicial opinions, performing legal research, and observing court hearings and trials while serving as a bailiff in civil, criminal, and juvenile matters. After finishing his clerkship, Jon moved back to his home state of Texas and joined Dunham and Jones. In his free time, Jon enjoys long-distance running, hiking, drumming, and whatever activities his daughter has put on his calendar.
